Through the COCO knowledge mobilisation program, our goal is to disseminate knowledge about concussions to promote better management of symptoms, impacts, and recovery in children, particularly those under 8 years old.

Who are we?
The COCO knowledge mobilisation program has emerged from the research conducted by our team at the ABCs Laboratory, led by Miriam Beauchamp, pediatric neuropsychologist and Full professor in the Department of Psychology at the Université of Montréal.
The ABCs Laboratory, affiliated with the Centre de recherche Azrieli du CHU Sainte-Justine and the University de Montreal, focuses on the cerebral, cognitive, and social development of infants, children, and adolescents.
Through our research exploring the consequences of concussions in young children, we recognize the importance of developing tools adapted to various actors in the educational and health fields, as well as supporting families.
Although much research focuses on the impact of concussions in older children, adolescents, and adults, young children are often overlooked in scientific studies. Furthermore, it can be a real challenge for healthcare professionals to advise parents and propose effective interventions.
Why? Mainly because young children have difficulty expressing their symptoms, one of the primary means by which concussions are identified. That’s why our laboratory’s mission includes advancing knowledge and developing tools for concussions in young children.
By mobilising knowledge, the COCO initiative gives a voice to young children who also suffer the consequences of concussions.
