I work with children
Active play and exploration are essential for child development but can also pose risks, such as falls from a slide or collisions between children. Knowing what to do when a head injury occurs is crucial. Your role is vital as you act as a safety net for the child.
That’s why we have developed tools, which include key information related to concussions in young children.
COCO Educational Kit
This educational kit is intended for teachers and students in early childhood education, as well as staff in childcare services. It is also for anyone wishing to acquire knowledge about concussions in young children.
Training
To equip as many practitioners as possible, we have developed a self-contained training kit ready to be used in an educational context. A 60-minute format is suggested for the training, with additional exercises available as needed. Several themes and questions are addressed, such as:
- What is a concussion?
- What are the signs and symptoms of a concussion in young children?
- What to do after a head injury?
- What does recovery and return to activities look like?
To gain deeper understanding of the reality of young children after a concussion and the essential role played by their caregivers, this kit includes a short awareness video that immerses us in their experience. A simple and effective way to introduce the subject.

Case studies
To test your knowledge or that of your students and trainees, we have created several illustrated case studies.
Early Childhood Detection Tool
The Early Childhood Detection Tool provides essential information at a glance for properly responding to a worrisome head injury. It is a key component of the educational kit and an essential tool for anyone working with young children.
Early Childhood Recovery Tool
The Early Childhood Recovery Tool guides you through each of the three stages of recovery in the days and weeks following a concussion diagnosis in a young child. An entire section is devoted to returning to childcare and preschool settings.
